Things You Should Know About Insuring Your Caravan….

  • Security.  Discounts are available if the caravan has an alarm fitted, hitch-lock or wheel clamp.  Discounts can also be given if you store the caravan in a secure CASSOA approved storage area.
  • Claims.  If you have made any previous caravan claims you must make sure the insurers know as failure to disclose them or any other material facts could invalidate a future claim. Discounts will be allowed if you have made no claims under your current caravan policy. Just be honest and your insurers will be honest with you.
  • Taking Abroad.  If you intend to take the caravan abroad make sure your policy covers you, our policies vary slightly and can cover you for up to 2 months a year or with Coast up to 6 months whilst abroad.
  • Market Value.  In the event of a total loss to your caravan and contents, you will receive the current market value at the time of your incident, subject to adequate sums insured. Your other option is to have New for Old cover.
  • New For Old cover.  This is when no deduction is made for wear and tear of your caravan, so if a 3 year old caravan is written off, the insurers will pay for a brand new touring caravan of the same manufacture and model. You must however insure the caravan for it’s full brand new replacement cost to ensure you are paid adequately in the event of a claim.
  • Excess.  An excess is the amount you would be responsible for in the event of a claim. Our policies have only just a £50 – £100 excess for any claim.
  • Further Discounts.  Our policies give further discounts for the older and wiser policyholder, security discounts, No Claims Discount, and ‘Caravan Club’ member discounts.
