Some Useful Advice, And Explanations For Your Classic Car Insurance

What type of vehicles can be insured?
Lancaster can quote for all types of classic cars ranging from your standard classic car, but including things like classic vans, modified classic cars, ex-military vehicles, certain imported classic cars, American classic cars and classic motorhomes like VW campers, classic tractors, classic 4X4's, and classic Landrovers.

At what age is a 'Classic Car' classed as a 'Classic Car'?
Lancaster can quote for most vehicles under their classic car scheme when they are over just 12 years old.

What if I have a dodgy driving history?
Lancaster can quote for drivers who have had previous accidents or if they have a conviction history, like speeding convictions, no insurance convictions etc.

My Classic Car is not garaged, can it still be covered?
Lancaster can cover all types of classic cars if they are kept on the road or on your private property, although discounts are available if you can put the car in a locked garage.  They will also quote if the car is kept at a different address to your own home.

What exactly is a ' Guaranteed Agreed Valuation'?
Classic car owners can often spend a lot of time and money restoring their beloved Classic to its original (or better) condition.  In some cases the amount spent exceeds the amount the car is actually worth, otherwise known as 'market value'.  This is why a 'Guaranteed Agreed Valuation' is offered on all the classic car insurance policies, for which an additional premium is payable.
Once applied to the insurance policy an agreed valuation application form will be included with your documentation.  Lancaster will require 6 current photographs of the insured vehicle, made up of 4 exterior body exposures, 1 of the interior engine bay and 1 of the interior.
Once the agreed valuation report and photographs are received by Lancaster, an expert valuer will set the Guaranteed Value of the vehicle. The valuation is valid only from the date printed on the Agreed Valuation Certificate of which one copy will be sent directly to you. 
If during the course of the annual insurance period a total loss claim occurs, the amount paid as a result of a claim will be the guaranteed value amount stated on the current valuation certificate less any policy excess.
N.B. Most insurance companies will offer you an Agreed Valuation policy, but will knock off wear & tear values or if they don't think it's worth what you said, they will put their own value on it. Lancaster will pay you exactly what you insure for.

How do I arrange cover and pay for my policy?
This classic car scheme is arranged entirely online for New Business. Just click on the quote buttons on this page and run through the quick questions on the quote form.  If acceptable you can arrange cover instantly online at the end of the quote.  A secure online payment facility will then take your credit or debit card details and collect the payment.  The new business documents will either come to you directly from Lancaster Insurance or from ourselves GJT Hodgson Insurance Services.  Any mid term changes can be made again directly to Lancaster or via ourselves.  At renewal time you will be notified by email from Lancaster Insurance and a new competitive renewal figure given.
