Bude WaveRiders Awarded Allianz Grant

Bude Waveriders Club, a grassroots organisation, has been shaping young lives through surfing for over 20 years.

Founded by a group of local surfers passionate about sharing their love of the ocean, the club has grown into a cornerstone of the Bude community.

While it welcomes surfers of all ages, Bude Waveriders is especially dedicated to nurturing young talent. Through weekly surf sessions, coaching, and junior competitions, the club gives local children the chance to develop their skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships, both in and out of the water.

Whether it’s teaching surf safety or mentoring the next generation of wave riders, the club’s mission is simple: to make surfing accessible, safe, and fun for every child in the Bude area, regardless of background or ability.

As a local insurance broker here in Bude, we know just how much the Waveriders mean to our community, our own family members have taken part in their brilliant sessions over the years.

We were delighted to support their funding application to the annual Allianz Insurance Sports Fund, and we’re stoked to see that the club has been awarded a £2,000 grant! The Allianz panel were genuinely impressed with the club’s impact on the local community, and we’re so pleased to see this recognition for grassroots sport here in Cornwall.

Laurent Motsch from Bude Waveriders Club shared that the funding will play a crucial role in training a new rota of volunteer lifeguards. The qualification course will enable adult volunteers to assist in surf training sessions and will make a significant difference for all club members.
