Forced To Go Cashless

Dear Valued Customers

We want to inform our local customers of changes to our payment policy that are required by circumstances beyond on control.

As you may be aware, Barclays Bank, whom we have relied on for cash deposits and processing for years, are permanently closing their Bude branch.

‘Don’t worry’ we’ve been told, ‘simply bank as normal via your local post office.’ As great as the local post offices are, due to the type of account insurance brokers have, cash can only be deposited via the banks own branch.

Unfortunately, the nearest branch is about a 2 hour round trip, making it impractical and inconvenient for our daily operations.

We understand the importance of offering flexible payment options to our customers, and we’ve explored various avenues to maintain our cash payment service. Regrettably, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure assistance from Barclays in providing feasible alternatives to address the situation.

So with effect from 29th September, we are making the difficult decision to discontinue accepting cash for insurance payments.

This is a disappointing day and a decision that was not made lightly.

Alternative Payments.

We still continue to offer a number of alternative ways to pay, such as debit and credit cards, electronic fund transfers – BACS, and cheques (yes we still take cheques).

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our top priority will always be serving our customers with ease, friendliness and convenience.

It seems to be the way all the banks are going, not just Barclays, a sad day when our rights about how we want to pay for things is being taken away from us.
